Why?

On December 7, 2022, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a letter directing all state agencies to ban the download and use of the social media app TikTok on any state government-issued devices and networks. This ban applies to the College and extends to all College-issued devices capable of Internet connectivity.

What actions has the college taken?

In response, the College has taken the following steps:

  • The College no longer uses TikTok for official marketing purposes, and

  • Access to TikTok has been blocked on the College’s network, including both the Guest and Secure Wi-Fi networks.

We will continue to monitor further instructions from the state and will send communications as they become available.

What are my Responsibilities?

Do the following immediately if you are using TikTok on a College-issued device:

  • DELETE THE TIKTOK APP from the College-issued device.

  • DELETE THE TIKTOK ACCOUNT if it is associated with your San Jacinto College email address.
